Fakir furniture

The challenge was to design an innovative furniture system that turns play into construction. Instead of fixed, finished pieces, we were asked to imagine furniture with the animosity to be built and unbuilt — modular parts children could combine freely to shape their own world. Fakir responds to this brief: a recyclable, safe system made from cardboard, rubber, plastic, or wood, enhancing creativity and cooperation while giving children real authorship over their environment.

The combination of perforated cardboard sheets and tubes lead to an infinite set of possibilites. From tables to beds, from shelves to stairs.
